Guest Charter

What we are doing and have already done to ensure that you have a great and most importantly safe stay at Darwin Cottage, especially regarding Covid-19:

Firstly, we are ensuring that the cottage that you have booked will be cleaned and sanitised to the Covid Ready Guidelines from PASC UK (Professional Association of Self Caterers), the AA Covid Confident and Visit England’s Good to Go schemes. We also comply with Hoseasons/Cottages.com Safer Stays criteria. We have produced a Risk Assessment that covers all aspects of our business and this can be seen on demand or by clicking on the link below.

To help cement our knowledge, we have also taken a course designed to help owners and cleaners of self-catering properties.

In it, we covered:

  • Risk Assessments
  • The science of Coronavirus, its longevity on different surfaces and how to effectively and safely eradicate it from our property.
  • What cleaning products we should be using and why, and their effective kill rates.

We are really confident that our property is entirely safe and we are looking forward to receiving guests when the current lockdown eases.

We have gathered information about where you can go out to eat locally and other nearby attractions.  Booking in advance will be critical, as there will be limited capacity at Restaurants and Pubs and many Take-Aways need advance orders to allocate collection slots.

Please see the links below for Eastbourne for “Know before you go” information. There is information about local attractions and places to eat and drink and what you may need to do beforehand regarding booking.

Another useful website if you are travelling as a family is:

There are plenty of suggestions of places to visit locally to help you make the most of your stay.

For those of you who are interested in making the most of the stunning walks locally, check out http://www.alltrails.com for some ideas. We can also give you some guidance as well to accommodate the make up of your group.

We would ask that you minimise asking us to enter the cottage during your stay. If, for example, you are having trouble working the TV, we can try and sort it out over the phone in the first instance.

Please try not to arrive before 1700 hours so that we can complete the enhanced cleaning under the cleaning protocols above. If you are arriving much later than 5pm, please let us know what time you’re planning to arrive as we like to greet our guests personally, even if it is at a social distance and put some lights on if it will be dark when you get here!

What we are asking you to do to help us ensure that you have a safe and enjoyable holiday.

We ask that you socially distance, especially relevant with small children.

Be rigorous in following social distancing when out in public.

During your stay, if you or any of your party show any signs of having the virus then you must immediately go and get tested by contacting https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-and-tracing/get-an-antigen-test-to-check-if-you-have-coronavirus/.  Hopefully this won’t happen, but should you need it, the nearest testing station to us is in Eastbourne behind the Congress Theatre.

The result must be shown to us. If positive, the person who is ill will need to leave if any Member of your party can drive them. If that is not possible and you have to self-isolate here, then you will have to pay for all bookings that have to be cancelled as a result.  Please advise us at the earliest opportunity should this be the case as future guests would need to be found alternative accommodation in advance of their arrival.

We will need you to provide, names, telephone numbers and email addresses of everyone in the party if they live at another address to yourself, so that we can pass this onto the NHS if it is required. This information will not be used for any other reason and will only be retained as long as would be necessary for track and trace purposes. This must be provided at the point of arrival or before.

We have HMG guidelines that only two households (which can include a bubble) can holiday together in July. We cannot police this and ask therefore that you risk assess your own party and decide for yourself if your group is appropriate.

Remember the best way to stay safe is to regularly wash hands thoroughly.

Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you at Darwin Cottage.
